I’m going to blow your mind here but I won an Instagram giveaway she and she’s thinking you know what for a pair of shoes you know maybe a new outfit I said “No I won LASIK.” She’s like “Oh mygosh.” My name is Matt Ferris I am 29 years old originally from Appleton, Wisconsin I work in wealth management uh I’m a private client financial adviser in my free time I love everything sports i love spending time with my family i’ve got an awesome wife and an 11-month-old daughter Remy outside of that I’ve played sports my whole life uh I played basketball in college football basketball and baseball throughout high school uh just an active person i love getting out playing golf i was playing basketball in seventh grade and my coach brought it up to my parents because I was missing a lot of shots and they said “Maybe you want to take Madden and get his vision checked.” Sure enough I didn’t have great eyesight i was nearsighted needed uh corrective lenses for longsightedness and ever since I’ve been kind of alternating between glasses and contacts throughout college I wore contacts during my athletics then uh so yeah we’re borderline 12 years now with uh glasses and contacts it’s kind of been an ongoing joke between me and my wife uh she asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year no joke about 2 months ago and I said LASIK and she’s like “Well I don’t really know i’m not certified to do that for you.” Um but uh it’s it was a huge blessing when I was able to have this opportunity because it’s been something I’ve been thinking about for a long time yeah you know I saw it on Instagram um through kind of a mutual friend who lives in the Minneapolis area and I saw it and I said “You know what i kind of want free LASIK probably similar to a lot of people when you see these Instagram giveaways you don’t think anyone actually wins right you think they’re just kind of out there.” But when I got the call from you Amy I was over the moon at first I thought it was spam but then I was over the moon that this was actually real life so who was the first person you called after you and I got off the phone my wife um absolutely my wife um at the time she was she was busy cuz she was heading out of town for the weekend and I remember calling her and she didn’t answer i said “Meg you got to answer the phone right now.” And she’s like “What is it?” I’m like “I’m going to blow your mind here but I want an Instagram giveaway.” She and she’s thinking “You know what for a pair of shoes you know maybe a new outfit i said “No I won LASIK.” She’s like “Oh my gosh!” Because I never even told her that I entered it because I just thought it was just you know something that I did i entered all my information it wasn’t ever going to actually happen um but we were both just over the moon and and uh so excited for it yeah I did i did get my Christmas gift and uh super excited my vision now is incredible it is crystal clear 20/20 um I I brag to my friends sometimes telling them that I have better eyes than them now but everybody at Chu Vision was really transparent and made things really easy for me um understanding kind of what the process would be like even before I stepped foot in these walls um letting me know what the the consult looked like versus the procedure how long the procedure would be what the side effects were you know what recovery process would look like from start to finish you know if it was you know any sort of the assistants to the doctors to the nurse um everybody was was extremely um thorough in how they explained what the procedure would be so going into it I was a little bit nervous as anyone would be but after getting here um for my consult when I went in for surgery the next day I I didn’t have a single nervous you know bone in my body because I knew how professional how experienced and how um well put together this Chu Vision team is it was crazy when I woke up the morning of procedure day um and I put on my glasses i said “This is my first this is my last time waking up putting on glasses and uh came in you know they had everything all set for me.” They double checked and made sure that my prescription was what it was the day before which it was going into the procedure it was incredible how quick it was by the time I laid down on the table to standing up and walking out it honestly felt like two minutes and then being able to to see that night it’s incredible for something that I thought would take maybe 2 or 3 4 days only took like 4 hours so the procedure itself could not have been any more smooth it was so quick no sort of pain whatsoever and I was able to see that night yeah underneath the laser it was I didn’t really feel much the only thing that I could really uh in terms of senses you see a little bit of a light in your eyes but then I could hear Dr chu talking and anyone who knows Dr chu it’s kind of a calming experience talking to him um but I I didn’t feel really much of anything with the numbing drops they give you um the whole procedure was really quick and painless you know going into it my wife was asking me “Are you nervous at all you know this is your vision right?” Going into it I was a little bit nervous a little bit hesitant but once you see all of the uh the reviews of Dr chu and the team here and after that consult especially I felt totally at ease um you definitely feel a little bit of nerves and whatnot because if anything happens you know that’s your ability to see but never did I have a worry that that would be the case yeah Dr chu is the best honestly he’s fantastic can’t say enough good things about him about the team here um he’s just so professional puts you so much at ease for a procedure that is when you think about it it’s anxietyprovoking he’s able to calm that just by his demeanor by the way you know he’s built this practice in this group here and uh never did I feel like I could have been in any better hands than with Dr chu so my aha moment was um the day after my procedure driving with my wife and being able to see those small little mile markers on the side of the highway driving past and I would point them out to her and read them before she could that was kind of my aha moment was wow this really does work you know I can see that from you know a long distance away and I could see it before she could um kind of had my bragging moment there there’s a bit of a weight off my shoulders now when I’m able to wake up be it in the middle of the night or in the morning to start my routine before work it’s one less thing to worry about my wife and I we love to travel and the ability to not have to worry about bringing contacts bringing solution you know how to pack it if you’re going on a flight that just not being an issue in my life anymore has been like I said a weight off my shoulders um I feel like I’m living a little bit more free you know ridding myself from having to worry about glasses or contacts and as we approach the summer months now being able to you know jump into a lake and get up and still be able to see to sit on a boat and not have to worry about well if I put sunglasses on then I can’t see because I’m wearing my glasses just not having that worry anymore has been really relieving so we’re actually heading uh in about a week down to Florida with my wife and my daughter and to be able to again not have to worry about packing contacts and to be able to sit on a beach and have my sunglasses on without a care in the world i’m looking forward to that i would tell them that uh my only regret is not doing it sooner um and I would also tell them that there is no place on earth you should go other than Chu Vision Institute seriously the way that they treat their people is second to none the expertise from Dr chu and his team has been incredible and uh my only regret is not doing it 10 years sooner it really is um because having one less thing to worry about with everything in life that goes on um has been really rewarding for me thank you so much from the bottom of my heart i know I’ve said it to you in person you know I’ve said it to anybody who’s asked but the team here is just incredible it’s really incredible and I’ve been your your biggest walking spokesperson possible and I will be till the day that I die that uh this is the place to be for any sort
