Dr. Heckman earned her Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and graduated with honors from Pacific University College of Optometry. During her training, she developed an expertise in ocular disease and surgical co-management.

She joined Chu Vision Institute in 2010 and has since built a reputation for her diagnostic skills, high degree of patient advocacy, and exceptional care, reflecting her dedication to lifelong learning.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Heckman oversees Chu Vision Institute’s in-house residency program in partnership with Pacific University College of Optometry. As Residency Program Coordinator, she mentors optometric residents, externs, and ophthalmic technician students, helping shape the next generation of eye care professionals.
