Surgery Day Flow

Back to Blog

Welcome to Chu Vision Institute

As your surgery day approaches, you may be wondering what the morning will look like.

Arrival

When you arrive on the day of surgery, you will pull up under the awning to the front door in your car, as you did for your clinic visit. You will hand your blue folder to the greeters to start the check-in process. Please have all your paperwork reviewed and signed before you arrive to expedite the check-in process. You will then be directed to your parking space, before you are invited inside.

At this point, you will want to administer your dilation drops (the bottle with the red cap) to your surgery eye.

When it is time to come inside, a greeter will escort you to the door. You will need to bring your eye drops inside with you, but we encourage you to leave cell phones, purses, jackets, and other items with your driver, so you do not have to carry them through the surgery process.

Pre-Op

After you are all checked in, you will start in pre-op, where our nurses will administer more dilation drops, if necessary, to ensure your pupil is wide enough for surgery. At this time, you will also get a small IV for your anesthesia medications.

You will meet the team assisting Dr. Chu in the Operating Room before you go in for surgery. Dr. Chu will also visit with you at that time. All of us are happy to answer any questions you have.

Post-Op

After surgery, you will be transferred to recovery while you wake up from anesthesia. At this time, a nurse will review post-operative instructions with your driver.

Once you are awake, you will be assisted to your car, and then you are free to go!
