The Chu Vision Foundation’s Annual 5K run/walk is back!
The mission of the Chu Vision Foundation is to treat cataract blindness in underserved communities, both near and far. 100% of the registration fees for the race go to supporting the Foundation and its mission.
“We started the Chu Vision Foundation because there’s over 20 million people in the world who are suffering needlessly from preventable causes of blindness like cataracts and glaucoma,” said Dr. Chu. The Foundation has travelled as far as Myanmar and Fiji to help people in need.
This year the 5K race is being held at Normandale Lake Park in Bloomington, MN . Registration and check-in open at 8AM with a kid’s ½ mile fun run at 8:30. The 5K follows the fun run at 9. 1st through 3rd place (both men’s and women’s) will be announced around 10.
All registrants receive a race T-shirt and crossing the finish line guarantees a finisher’s medal (even the ½ mile kid’s race finishers get a medal!) You don’t have to run, either! You can walk, run, or do a combination of walking and running. The course is even stroller friendly if you want to bring a little one. If you do want to compete, the winner of the race will receive a free pair of running shoes from Gear Running Store.
The See it Forward 5K is always a day of fun and excitement. People from all over the Twin Cities come to run, walk, jog, or stroll down the course. It’s a fun morning out for the whole family!
Registration fees are $40 for the 5K and $15 for the kids’ run.
