New laser technology is helping Minnesotans see more clearly. Fourteen-year-old Megan Phillips has been waiting 10 years for her cataract surgery. Due to illness as a young child, she was taking steroids and was warned it could cause problems down the road, but no one knew how severe. Years later, she diagnosed with diabetes and started to lose her vision. So Megan’s mom went to Doctor Chu. In January, Dr. Chu acquired the newest technology for cataracts called the Victus femtosecond laser. He is the only surgeon in the Midwest with this technology, and one of only 10 in the country.
