my name is ann peterson and i had cataract on both eyes [Music] my vision before i thought was absolutely perfect until one day i can’t read the newspaper i’m not enjoying my reading i’m not enjoying seeing colors i don’t like lights coming to my eyes so he said let’s have a look and then he showed me the picture and there was this cloudy gray shadow on the on the film he made a recommendation to dr chu and over i went and that’s the beginning of this story

and i went in and worked with the girls and they there was no sitting around waiting and if there was they said we’ll be right with you you were not feeling left alone or lost or when are they going to come they approach you they tell you what you’re going to do in from the minute you walk in there you know you’re important you know that your problem is the girl’s problem your problem dr chu’s problem they’re there to make you feel better that whole group they couldn’t do anything wrong if they said you’ve got to come and wait an hour i would have gone and waited an hour i was so excited that i could see

in my papers i read that i would get a phone call from him so i did get one and i’ll tell you what i have i was very impressed i didn’t feel he was in a hurry to get me off the phone i didn’t feel like i had hurry up and asked my questions or tell my upsets or tell them my compliments he he has a knack and then i’m sitting there with the white gear on and everything in the iv and then going to be the second person for surgery and he stopped by and he said hi ann and i’ve got the mask on so i knew he’d checked me out so that was nice nice personal touch

so the first day of the left eye surgery by that night i could see fine color tones uh and that i didn’t know i didn’t see before and i could see the newspaper immediately the newspaper so then a week later we’d do the right eye and that night about eight o’clock it was i could read the paper

oh the girls made it very easy i mean they they were wiping everything down they put you told you to put the mask on um they had masks on it it just was the way of life for us even at home and when i went there just the girls with all their masks on and wiping everything off it just it we absorbed what they were doing and it was easy everything was clean no magazines of course um but they didn’t make me wait so it was uh it wasn’t an issue it wasn’t an issue i think the attitude that goes in there just minimizes the upset that i had when i thought it was going to be long drawn out boring scary it just didn’t happen that way i mean i i went in not happy didn’t want to go this is not what i wanted to do but i chose to do it because i wanted to see i mean he just you girls have done a darn good job i give him credit i actually give the girls as much credit as i give him because they they make the difference before they see Chu

tell the girls or tell dr chu how you feel and they would take longer with the sheets i know they would you can ask any of my friends they know exactly how i felt about the whole thing and i’ll say to my friends have you do you know Chu have you seen him some of them have seen him i said well if you get sick that’s where you’re gonna go but if i were if i were playing bridge and two girls were talking about having eye surgery i would not be quiet yeah i have a smile when i think about it [Music] i suppose probably because i’m so secluded and we’re not doing that much the biggest issue is just seeing things are bright it’s it’s not a bad picture and especially because where i live i have a lot of color and i can see every bit of it i just don’t have an eye problem anymore it’s it’s gone it’s gone
